A Marbella Christmas

Wishing You A Marbella Christmas

There´s so much more to Marbella than just the beach life. The festive season is an amazing time of year to be visiting Marbella and here´s why..

La Plaza de los Naranjos

Marbella Old Town´s most famous square is adorned with orange trees (hence the name). This is the only time of year, where the oranges truly grow and you can see the vibrant pop of orange colours throughout this charming Andalucian style courtyard.

Christmas Lights

On the 30th November at 7pm, Marbella will host their fabulous light switch-on which will involve a 20m structure similar to that of a cathedral archway. Designed by the well renowned company Iluminaciones Ximenez who have also designed Malaga´s light show as well as those of Madrid, London and New York. There will also be five nativity scenes as well as a large light up bear, perfect props for a family photo. Not to mention all the other accompanying lights throughout Marbella´s Old Town, adding up to a whopping total of 120 streets decorated this year.

Shopping

You´re spoilt for choice when it comes to the shopping options in Marbella. Take your pick from the selection of festive Christmas markets, sure to get you in the merry mood. Or if it´s high-end fashion stores you´re after, then visit Puerto Banus where you can find all the main labels such as Dolce & Gabbana and Chanel. Marbella´s famous shopping centre La Cañada has a great range of stores all under one roof and you can bring your kids along to meet Santa!

Meet Father Christmas

Other than La Cañada, your children can also meet Santa in his very own grotto in ´La Paza de la Inglesia´. He will also be making visits to the children in various animations and parties organised by the ayuntamiento throughout the town so keep your eyes on times and dates here: https://bit.ly/34lNlxz.

New Year

Celebrate the start of 2020 with the famous 12 grapes in ´La Plaza de la Iglesia de la Encarnacion´. Enjoy the moment with crowds of people while you eat each grape at the chime of the grand clock. The atmosphere is electric with bars, restaurants and nightclubs open until the early morning.

The Magic Kings Procession

Spain is famous for their large celebrations on the 5th January where processions fill the streets and the Magic Kings give out sweets and gifts to all the children. At 18:00 the procession will pass through the follow streets in Marbella: Avenida Severo Ochoa, Avenida Ramon y Cajal, Avenida Ricardo Soriano and ending in La Plaza Monseñor Rodrigo Bocanegra. Be sure your little ones don´t miss it!

The festive season this year is rumoured to be better than ever! What are you most looking forward to?!
